Is It Necessary To Wash Hands After Touching Penis?

Hi Doctor, quick question about men and whether they should wash their hands throughly with soap after urinating. And if so, why? Is it the urine? Or is it touching the penis. And if so, should a man wash his hands after every time he touches his penis.Regards.

Hello and welcome to HCM,
Contamination of hands with urine or discharge at the tip of penis should be followed by washing of hands.
In case there is infection in the urinary tract or reproductive tract, the infection can spread.
On the contrary, the infectious agent from the hands can also transfer to the urinary tract and reproductive tract.
Thus, it is important to keep the perineal region or the private part clean and free from infection.
Along with it is important to keel other body parts free from urine and discharge fron penis.

Thanks and take care
