Is It Dangerous To Take Amiodarone While On Tramadol?

Cardiologist added amiodarone to my list of medicines. I also take Tramadol ER for an unrelated pain control issue. How dangerous is this combination? I wouldn t mind DCing Tramadol, but I understand that I would probably have withdrawal symptoms. Please advise.

Hi,

Fortunately, there are no major interactions between these two drugs, only that Amiodarone decreases the effect of Tramadol, but you may not even notice the difference.

So there is no need to stop taking the Tramadol, but even if you did, it is not a very powerful opiate pain medication, so I don't think you would have too much withdrawal symptoms.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Hi

You can safely take amiodarone while you are on Tramdol. It will not interact with each other or does not cause any adverse effects.
