Is It Advisable To Use A Leg With Hematoma On Calf Post Injury?

Hello, I have a large hematoma (17cmx15cm) across my calf. I've had an ultrasound; there is no DVT but there is soft tissue damage and "increased echogenicity" (?). The hematoma occurred after blunt force trauma. There are no fractures. The area is still hot and painful to touch. The overlying skin is starting to slough off. Should I be non-weight bearing? Should I use crutches to continue trying to walk as best as possible without assistance. Thank you.

Hello and welcome to HCM,
A hematoma is not usually painful or hot.
Pain and heat over the hematoma suggests supervening infection in the hematoma.
I suggest you to consult your primary healthcare provider for clinical assessment and prescription of relevant medications.
If weight bearing is causing pain then please avoid weight bearing till the symptoms of pain and heat are controlled.

Thanks and take care
