Is It Advisable To Stop Micronor When Bleeding?

Hi. I started micronor March 2nd 2 weeks later had a period followed by another one 2 weeks later which I m still having now. Doctor will not do anything told me to stick it out for 3 months and if I continue to bleed throughout the duration then that s the way it is. Can I just stop taking this pill when I m bleeding and is it likely to stop this lengthy period sooner rather than later. I just need the bleeding to stop Thanks

Hi,

Micronor is a type of progestin-only birth control pill that can help prevent pregnancy by thickening cervical mucus, which makes it harder for sperm to reach the egg. Irregular bleeding is a common side effect of Micronor, especially in the first few months of use. It is not advisable to stop taking the pill when bleeding, as this can disrupt the hormone balance in your body and make the bleeding worse.

However, if you have been taking Micronor for a few months and are still experiencing heavy or prolonged bleeding, it is best to talk to your doctor. They may recommend switching to a different type of birth control or prescribing medication to help control the bleeding.

In some cases, it may be necessary to stop taking Micronor altogether if the bleeding continues to be a problem. However, this should only be done under the guidance of your doctor to avoid any potential complications.

It is important to note that sudden discontinuation of any birth control pill can cause withdrawal bleeding or period, which can last for several days. If you do decide to stop taking Micronor, your doctor may advise you to finish the current pack and wait until the bleeding stops before starting a new form of birth control.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
