Is It Advisable To Stop Metroprolol When Having Infective Endocarditis?

49 yr old male infective endocarditis in 2011. Started Metoporol 25 mg x2 per day in 11/2011. until now. 9/2012 had mitral and aortic valves replaced with onyx mech valves. No hi BP ever. No Problems. dr says to stop Metropol. Only 80 mg a day asprin (coated) and 7.5 mg Coumidin Daily (INR tests weekly at home). Question: My valves are clicking much louder than normal. others can hear them across the room. Should I have gone cold turkey? I have an RX if I need to go to 1 or back to 2 a day. What do you think?
