Is It Advisable To Stop BP Medication When Suffering From High BP?

I am on. Blood presure medication, 80 mg of. Valsartin,my blood pressure when I take it is around 110 over 70 when I started on it my bottom number was 90 which I understand is the constant pressure, so I am happy to have that number down . I always take my machine in when I re fill my prescription. It is right on with my doctor. I accidentally filled my medication container with sleeping pills the doctor had given me when my husband passed away 3 years ago that I did not take. It was 5 days before i noticed this , however i did have much better sleeps. I was at the gym and noticed my heart rate was really abnormally high when I was on the tread mill. And decided in would take my blood pressure an it was 130 over 90. So I really don t think that I shoud be reducing my dose ??. Can you advise me???

Hi welcome to HCM.
I understand your query and concern.
High blood pressure should be treated even though its under control or else will lead to complications like Dilated cardiomyopathy and ischemia to the brain.Best treatment for elevated blood pressure is through drugs like beta blockers and Ace inhibitors. Before that adequate management and work up is needed.I advise you to have a baseline 2 dimensional echocardiography,ECG and lipid profile to assess the basic cardiac reserve of your heart.Restrict the intake of salt to less than 6g/day.Regular physical exercise in the form of brisk walk for 20 min a day for 5 days a week.Drugs like antihypertensives and antiarrhythmics will help.Reduce the intake of fatty and fried food. One pomegranate a day will help to keep your heart at good pace without clot formation. Stress management is most vital in your case.So Consult a Cardiologist for further expert management.
Post your further queries if any.
Thank you.
