hello doctor i am lakshmi. my children aged three and a half have severe cold and cough. is it advisable to give them curd for lunch as they do not have milk. i usually give them curd prepeared in the morning by 7 am in the morning and give for lunch taken at 1:30. or is butter milk better. can i mix turmeric with curd and warm it as i read it will not induce cold. please reply
If there is severe cough and cold then curds can be given only if there are sweet in nature and not sour at all.. If the curd gets sour then do not give them..
First of all you should give them more of warm fluids and warm water as it will help in reducing congestion and other symptoms..
Many a times warming the curd makes it more sore so do not give in that way..
Along with it giving steam inhalations and also a combination of decongestant and mucolytics and antihistamine after consulting a Paediatrician should be done..
Avoid any cold and spicy and sour foods..
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
