Is It Advisable For Sudden Tapering Of Prednisone Dosage?

I was put on 40 mg. of prednisone for a crohns flareup nove 19 for 2 wks. I am now reducing 5 mg. per week. and am 20 mg. My balsalazine was increased from 2 capsules to 10 per day which it should have been from the beginning.(error in prescribing). That began 2 weeks ago. I had been on 10 asacol for years with no problem. My question...It seems the first day or two I reduce the prednisone I am feeling very good. Is this normal or should I reduce at a slower pace? I am having insomnia and joint pain, probably from my osteoarthritis returning with the reduction of the anti inflamatory. Main question...Is this rate of reduction okay? Thanks

this seems o.k. at now.The rate of tapering may be a bit slow at the end & last dose might have to be taken for a long time & some times it may be your maintainance dose.
