Is Intercourse Safe While On The Medication Of Fertomid?

hi Doctor, how are you? doctor I have been taking the fertomid for two days now and the doctor said we must not have sex until the date he gave me, but last night my husband insist we get intimate, so is it going to affect the process or will somehow disturb the process of ovulation?

Hi.

Yes, intercourse is safe while on Fertomid. Fertomid should be taken on day 2 of the menstrual cycle (day 1 is the day you wake up bleeding) and initially a 50 mg tablet is taken once a day for 5 days around the same time every day. Ovulation usually occurs 5-12 days after the last tablet. Accordingly you should have sex every day or every other day starting on Day 11 through Day 21 of your cycle. So, you are advised to have sex on every other day from day 11 of your cycle. Having sex earlier will not affect the treatment neither disturb the process of ovulation.
