Is Inconsistent Bleeding A Cause For Concern?

After taking postinor 2 in the same week my period should start. I started having spotting 2 days after pill was taken. I had little or no spotting for the first 3 days then for the 4th and now 5th day I m having heavy flow and usual pain. Is something wrong?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

Postinor 2 contains Levonorgestrel, it can cause some women to have irregular bleeding.

You may notice spotting & unusual bleeding. It may continue upto your next period but will go away by itself after you have your next normal periods.

Since you are having unusual pain you are suggested to visit your gynae & get clinically examined. In the meantime you can take spasmol (Spasmoproxyvon) one SOS for relieve. You can take antacids.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Nupur K, General & Family Physician
