My mother is 75 years old. One year ago she went into cardiac arrest. She was one of the small percentage that survived with out remaining a vegetable. Now she has contracted gall stones and gallbladder. Her lungs are not good, but was checked today and told sound better. She was told she only has 25% heart function. Because of the severe pain and unable to eat it has been recommended that she have the gallbladder removed. I know there is always risk with any surgery. She is not sure she can stand much more pain and of course worried her heart is not strong enough to withstand surgery. Any thoughts?
