Is Gaining Weight Due To The Side Effect Of Valparin Chrono 500?

sir, my mother was taking epsolin 300 mg from last 15 yrs. but now before 6 months when we consulted the doctor he changed the medicine to valparin chrono 500 two tablets a day. Since then my mother has gained 10 kgs of weight in last 6 months. Are these side effects of the tablets?Now what should we do??

Yes, weight gain is one of the important side effects of Valparin Chrono 500.
Consult her treating physician/neurologist to review the prescribed medication as the weight gain may have its adverse impact on her health on long term basis. An alternate effective but a safer anti epileptic medication may be needed.
