Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I am having endogenous ablation therapy on my leg vein tomorrow and am concerned. What should I know about the success of this? And how long do you think I will be laying around . I am very active and like to be exercising, etc. I am 74 and these veins are in the back of my knee and around my ankle. The ankle ones show like big black & blue bumps, and I found it very difficult & hurtful to put on winter boots this year.
This is vascular surgery. There is always risk involved in the procedure. So all care has to be taken during surgery and post surgical period. May be crepe bandage to be used around the involved part before surgery and after surgery.
Then investigation regarding blood dyscrasia required to give guidance on the cause of clot formation behind the knee joint and its discoloration. Further consultation to be done with a vascular surgeon to prevent any complications and further clot formation.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Ashok Kumar Dash, Ophthalmologist
