Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Is Ejection Fraction Value Of 10-15% A Cause For Concern?
My mother has Ejection Fraction between 10-15%. 90 years old. Not overweight. Good health history. She does not want to take any medications. Not sleeping well. Occasional edema in ankles. Tired and dizzy most of the day. Daily episodes of short breath and feelings of suffocation. Some coughing every day. What should we expect as far as her longevity?
Tiredness and edema of ankles are due to age-related low output failure. Ejection fraction 10-15% is a cause of concern but provided at this age, the best thing to do is treat her symptomatically. Consult a cardiologist and repeat the ECHO. Breathlessness is another big concern that has to be addressed, is she on any medication for that? Her sleep is disturbed because of breathlessness, it could be orthopnoea. Get her evaluated by a cardiologist.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Dr. Melita Wesley,
