Is Discontinuing Nifedipine Safe After Increasing Bystolic Dosage?

I have been taking 60 mg nifedipine xr in mornings and 5mg bystolic at night. Today due to side continuous effects of niphedipine after 5months my doctor said to stop niphedipine and increase bystolic to 10mg. I forgot to ask what will help me have less side effects from stopping cold Turkey? Should o start taking the bystolic in the morn in place of the niphedipine

HI, thanks for using healthcare magic

Yes, you can stop cold turkey. Blood pressure medications do not cause tolerance or physical/emotional dependence.

Not all medications cause tolerance or dependence, this is more likely with sleep aids or psychiatric meds.

I hope this helps
