Is Diabetes Difficult To Control In Person With Cardiomyopathy?

I take 60 mg of Propranolol twice a day and 80 mg of Simvastatin once a day. I have had heart arrhythmia and treat diabetes with diet alone. I am alarmed by what I read about the interaction of these drugs. Cardio myopathy and difficulty controlling glucose levels. What is your take on it?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
There is no reason you can not control your diabetes while in propranolol and simvastatin. Your cardiomyopathy may reduce your ability to exercise but not interfere with diabetes control. You must watch your calories and take medications for diabetes if it is not in control. This may include insulin if needed.
