Is Choleocystectomy Advisable For A Heart Patient?

I had open heart bypass surgery approx 4 years ago. I have been having severe pain on the right side of my abdomen under my rib cage and after extensive testing it has been determined that my gallbladder is no longer functioning and should be removed. I have met with two young surgeons and after talking with them I have zero confidence that I could survive this surgery. If I have my cardio doctor order a current EKG and it is okay, can I have my gallbladder removed safely. Perhaps I need to find a surgeon that is more positive and what would be the percentage of have this surgery successfully even though I realize there no guarantees anytime you are put to sleep. Your opinion please!

Hi Welcome to HEALTHCARE MAGIC..

I have gone through your query and can understand your concern...
Cholecystectomy(removal of gall bladder) is advised to a heart patient with stable heart condition, so it can be done safely in you. However it will require stoppage of your blood thinner medication.
Cholecystectomy is a very successful surgery with success of over 90%. Also if gall bladder has multiple stones, delaying this procedure may cause passage of stone to bile duct. Which can cause more problem.
So don't worry you should go for gall bladder removal as per my opinion.

Refer to your surgeon

Hope this helps
