Is Change In Dose Of Primolut Depot From 250 Mg To 500 Mg Advisable?
Im 17 weeks pregnant and I have abnormal contractions my doctor gave me primolut depot 250 mg to be taken once every week and duphaston tablets 10 mg 3 times daily for two weeks. Im having a very painful spasms in the lower left side of my abdomen shall I increase the dose of primolut to be taken 500 mg twice a week?
Please do not increase the dose of Primolut without consulting your Obstetrician. If he/she feels so, you may increase the dose.
Basically, I wonder whether the pain you are describing is from and due to the uterine contractions. Whenever you feel such spasmodic pain, please put your palm of the hand on the uterus to feel whether it contracts or not. If it is contracting during the spasms, it is uterine pain. Usually the uterine pain is felt in the midline over the uterus.
The pain in the lower left side is more likely to be due to amoebic colitis which can be treated with Metronidazole. Please re-consult your Obstetrician to ascertain the cause of the pain and then take appropriate treatment. You may get your stools examined from the laboratory for this possibility.
I hope this has given you a required advice.
