General & Family Physician, Dr. Vasudha's Response
Hi,
Intense physical therapy can cause swelling of calves along with cramps.(muscular spasms)due to muscle exhaustion.
If you have swelling without any other sign, you should get yourself examined /investigated (4 D usg test)for deep vein problems .&get needful treatment.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Take care
