Is Burning Sensation On The Feet Suggestive Of The Onset Of Diabetes?

Hi ... I have had in the resent past , and today a burning sensation on tops of feet . I have comfortable shoes , but I am slightly over weight . Was wondering if this may be a beginning symptom of diabetes (since it runs in family) , or other possibility s. Thank u
