Is Brown Discharge After Unprotected Sex Sign Of Pregnancy?

I had unprotected sex on 15aug and i took an ipill within 4 hours. After a week of sex (23aug) i have strtd to get brown discharge. This discharge is also 10 days prior to my periods date. Is this a sign of pregnancy or a side effect of the pill? Will i get my normal periods after this discharge is over?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello.
Thank you for contacting HCM.

I have gone through your question and I would try my best to give a satisfactory answer.

If the emergency contraceptive pills are taken as directed after unprotected sex (that is within 72 hours of sex) then the chances of pregnancy are quite low.

One of the side effects of such contraceptives is irregularity in the upcoming menstrual cycle. Most probably what you are experiencing is such a side effect. I would advise you not to worry at this point.

I hope this answers your question. In case of any query please please feel free to contact HCM again.
Wish you good health.
