Is Breastfeeding Safe While On Primolut N 5mg?

Hi, I have been having heavy menstrual bleeding past 19 days and the gynaecologist has put me on primolut n 5 mg 2 tablets (at a time) 3 times a day for 3 days thereafter 1 tablet 3 times a day for next 3 days and next 15 days 1 tablet 2 times a day. I have a 1 yr old baby boy and i am breastfeeding him. Could you please let me know if it is safe to breastfeed my baby during this course? He is having trouble to sleep without a feeding session and i am really stressed. Kindly revert. Thank you.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

Primolut N is not advisable to take while breastfeeding. The active ingredient in Primolut N passes into breast milk and there is a possibility that your baby may be affected. I suggest to consult your doctor about an alternative treatment.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
