Is Breast Cyst A Cause For Concern?

i just had a breast cyst aspirated today and the fluid was very gel like, dark and bloody looking. The doctor was not able to drain it completely but it did reduce in size. The fluid was sent to the lab. I am very worried that this is a cancerous sign. Should i be concerned and is this a sign of seriousness?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

Sometimes drained cysts will fill up again and if this happens you have to choose if you want it removed surgically or you may leave it and see if it goes away on its own.

All “simple cysts” are almost never associated with a higher risk of cancer. The only exception when a cyst might indicate a slightly elevated risk for cancer is when there are other risk factors for cancer, such as a strong family history.

King regards,
Dr.Mersi
