Is Antibiotic Intake Safe During Early Pregnancy?

Dear Dr sir, I have a doubt regarding pregnancy. We had intercourse during the ovulation day (feel some pain in the abdomen). 1 week back i had fever and cough, so doctor had given some antibiotics. My query is there any problem for my baby with that antibiotic? i forget the name of those medicines. Many Thanks for your advice in advance

Early pregnancy is the period in which the organs are formed in the growing fetus.
So, use of drugs is not advisable as no drug is found to be safe during this stage of pregnancy.
Regarding its harmful effects on the growing fetus, it depends upon which antibiotic is used and for how many days it has been prescribed.

Some antibiotics like tetracyclines, quinolones, sulfonamides, etc are found to be causing harmful effects in the growing fetus hence should be avoided during pregnancy.
