Is Anti-rabies Vaccine Necessary For A Dog Scratch?

Hi, a street dog accidentally scratch my leg by his nail. My leg was covered with thick jeans still i felt a poking sensation but when checked i found no blood or no scratch but just a mild redness that gone away in few minutes. I still washed it and applied antiseptic on it. Do i need to have anti rabbies shot?

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service.
I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

Scratching the skin by dog by its nail does not cause rabies. So, there is no need to take anti rabies shots.

Thanks.
