Is An X-ray Necessary To Diagnose An Injured Swollen Knuckle?

Hi I got into a fight and injured my right middle knuckle. It was swollen and sore for about a week and a half. It now really has no irritable pain, however the knuckle is still swollen with what feels like fluid. Will this dissipate or do I actually need to go get my hand xrayed?

Hi,
Welcome to Healthcare Magic Forum.
I have gone through your Query & I really appreciate your concern about the problem you are facing.

As a physician I would like to tell you that it is absolutely necessary that you get you knuckle X-rayed as soon as possible. This is because the swelling is not subsided yet, which would have been subsided till now if it has been a Hair fracture.

Further, you need to take some OTC pain relieving medication and visit a Orthopedician as soon as possible because if the knuckle is dislocated, the malunion could lead to serious deformity.

Thanks for Trusting & Posting your Query on this forum.
Hope this will help you. Feel free to ask any further question.
Have a nice Day.

Regards,
Dr.Abhijeet
