Is An MRI Scan Advisable For A Nodule On The Thyroid Gland?

noduMy primary doctor referred me to a endocrinology groupin my town, but they sent message saying they need more test results like ultrasounds and thyroid test. I have recently had a MRI and CT scans in hospital and that s when I was told by the doctor there, that I need to get my primary doctor to send a referral to see the endocrinologist, They seen a nodule on my thyroid while checking an artery problem and though my doctor has done TSH, T3 and T4 lab work it comes back normal. But I know my body and all my symptoms and gut have been telling me the hospital doctor is right that there is some kind of gland and hormone out of order some where. even though it isn t being caught. He is a neurology doctor, the referral lady at the endocrine doctor is telling me all that is not enough. Seems to me a MRI and CT s would show better than a ultrasound . What else can be done to get in to see them. I have all the symptoms of hypothyroid or some kind of hormone gland problem. I Am ready to give up when I just want to get better . I have been dealing with this among other health problems, but this has been going on way too long now and seems it is wearing my body and mind out from the roller coaster I ve been on for years and I m beginning to think this gland thing has been making some of the other problems all along. SO finally my primary doctor agrees and referred me to the endocrine doctors and now this referral person in their office has blocked me from finally getting checked out. why more costly test when 2 doctors are saying I should be checked.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
hi
you may need to do ultrasound for neck and to diagnose whether you have any thyromegaly in case if you have thyromegaly it's better to remove your thyroid gland it's better to consult a surgeon for further management.
thank you.
