Is Alcohol Consumption Advisable While On Meloxicam?

Everything I read about Meloxicam says you really shouldn t drink alcohol with it. My husband takes 15 mg once a day. It has been for an extended period. He weighs about 250 lbs and has a beer or two just about every day. During summer months he may have 5 to 7 or 8 beers once or twice a week in addition to the other days that he usually drinks a beer or two. He told me he asked his doctor about drinking with this medication but I suspect he didn t tell him how much he drinks. Is he in danger from drinking with the meloxicam? YYYY@YYYY

It is not recommended to consume alcohol along with meloxicam.
Both when together can increase the risk of acid damage to the stomach, gastric ulcers and stomach bleeding.
It is best to avoid alcohol. If at all he decides to drink limit to 1-2 beer/ day.
He can also take PPI like pantoprazole 40 mg once daily to decrease acid damage to stomach.
