Is A Yellow Bruise On The Upper Leg A Concern?

I am a female in early 30s . About 3 days ago I was practicing karate with my 12 yr old daughter when she kicked me pretty hard in the leg by accident. It s on my upper leg (side thigh area ). My bruise is pretty big ,yellow purple in color. It almost has a chicken skin kind of a look. it was and still is pretty sore, however now it seems hot to the touch, and quite bothersome. Should I be concerned ? I have never had a bruise this bad before.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

The symptoms seem to be related to a hematoma.

I recommend to use cold compress or ice pack application for 20 to 30 minutes for the 48 hours following injury to reduce swelling.

I recommend to rest and elevate your foot higher than your heart.

l suggest light compression with a wrapped bandage and pain medication such as Acetaminophen.

I suggest using a vitamin K cream for local application.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
