Is A Possible Enlargement In Heart A Cause For Concern?

I had an echocardiogram done by the VA and they want me to see a cardiologist for a possible enlarged heart. They can t get me in before the middle of February. Is this something that needs to be addressed sooner? I can go to an outside doctor if need be. I just don t want to put something off and have it get worse.

HI, thanks for using healthcare magic

The urgency would depend on the extent of the enlargement and overall cardiac function.

The echo would have also looked at how effective the heart was pumping.

If the enlargement is severe and there is a significant decrease in heart function then you need to be as seen as soon as possible.

If there is only mild change then you can wait until the appointment.

If you are still anxious then you can see a doctor prior to your appointment.

I hope this helps
