Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Is A Painful Bruise Over Right Eye Post A Hit A Cause For Concern?
I walked into a glass door. A big knot formed over my right eye. I did put ice on the knot which it reduced the swelling which has gone Dow tremendously but where the swelling was it is now very bruised and a little painful. Do you think I should get it checked out by a doctor? I am 78 years old .
If your vision is fine and there is no other symptom other than swelling and bruising then I don't think there is any reason to worry. The bruising is due to collection of blood which is very common in that area as the skin is loose over there. It will gradually resolve on its own. The above has been said assuming that you are not on any chronic treatment like consuming some anticlotting medication or you having any bleeding disorder.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Anoop Kumar, General & Family Physician
