Is A Painful Bruise On Knee Due To Injury While Playing A Cause For Concern?

I hit my knee really hard during a basketball game about 2 and a half months ago and it bruised badly and I couldn t put any pressure on it or touch it because of the pain. However, it still hurts to touch or to sit on my knees or anything, just not nearly as bad as before. Should I look into this or is it still healing?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

If your knee is still painful to the touch and you're unable to put pressure on it or bend it fully, it's recommended that you see a doctor to have it evaluated. This type of pain and limited range of motion could indicate a more serious injury, such as a bone fracture or ligament damage, that requires medical attention to heal properly. Even if it's just a deep bruise, your doctor may be able to recommend treatments to help manage your pain and speed up the healing process.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Priyanka, General & Family Physician
