Is A Missed Period Normal After Taking Birth Control Pills?
I started Junel Fe 1/20 Sunday. It is my first time on birth control so I don t know whether to be worried or not but, I was suppose to start my period today and I had told my doctor that but she told me to go ahead and start last Sunday. I haven t gotten my period yet and I m a little nervous. I took a pregnancy test and it was negative. Is this normal?
Hi Madam, Thanks for posting in HCM. Menstrual disturbances like spotting, missing periods, irregular periods and heavy blood flow are some of the common side effects experienced by few women during the initial few months while on birth control pills. Since these are hormonal preparations and takes some time for the body to get adjusted towards it, such symptoms can happen. You need not be worried about it and kindly continue the pills as advised to be taken. Gradually, by 3 to 6 months, such symptoms should stop and things should get stabilized. Hope the information provided would be helpful. All the best.
