Is A Lap Band Surgery Advisable For The BMI Of 40 And High Cholesterol?
I had gastric sleeve in 2009 I began losing weight slowly - by the end of 2012 I was 75 lbs from my ideal weight. I was very active an d on atoll until I injured both my knees. In March 2013 I had left knee arthroscopy then in June I had arthroscopy on the right knee. From the time of my injury to date, I have gained 30 ins back. I am not as active with P90X or Insanity instead, I m waking and doing 30 minute aerobics but I can t seem to lose any weight. My diet is so so. My recent blood work shows no signs of diabetes but my cholesterol is very high. My BMI is 40. I am wanting some form of surgery again - like a Lap Band. Is this possible?
Hello and thank you for your question. It is very important that you get your weight down to a more normal BMI. You would need to consult a surgeon tat knows your medical history to determine the best surgery for you. It does sound like you have tried and been successful in have some weight loss. I am very sorry that you hurt your knees. A lap band or other surgery may be just what you need to continue with your weight loss plan. I wish you the best in this endeavor and applaud your efforts to get healthier. Thank you for using HCM.
