Walamycin (colistimethate sodium) injection is usually used as a last resort for treating bacterial infections. It is not sure from the description, how many days cefixime was administered; whole course of antibiotics should be taken. I would suggest you to make sure that your baby is not dehydrated; give ORS (oral rehydration solution) equivalent or slightly more than the loss occurring due to loose stools.
Walamycin injection and some syrup formulations are also available but are not proved to be safe in the infants. They may be used off-labely in exceptional cases. I would recommend you to use Walamycin only under paediatrician advice.
Hope the above information helps you for deciding about your baby's treatment. Thanks for writing into healthcaremagic. Have a wonderful day.
