Is TSH Value Of 11.610 Ng/mL A Cause For Concern?

I have a thyroid stimulating hormone reflexive blood test and received the results today. I have an appointment with my doctor on Monday to go over the results but do not want to worry all weekend what is going on with my thyroid. My value from the test is 11.610 ng/mL and the standard range is 0.350 - 5.500 ng/ml what does that mean??? Help

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi thanks for asking question in health care magic...

Kindly mention full report along with serum TSH and free T4 level...

Your TSH value is high... So it is suggestive of hypothyroidism.....

Don't worry for that... You will be given eltroxin means levothyroxine drug for maintaining your thyroid hormone level normal...

The dose of levothyroxine than adjusted according to your TSH level in follow up report..

You will require taking drug lifetime....

Regular follow up needed

Take care

Hope this will help you..
