I have TMJ, and it was caused by a wisdom tooth that has been removed. not i have a proper bite. and i have chewed on the left side of my mouth for years, and now my right side, where i did not chew, is starting to relax i think. What should i feel when tmj is healing? well when my muscles are healing? right now its kind of like a vibration feeling in my temple.

Hi Dear,

Welcome to HCM.

Understanding your concern. As per your have symptoms of difficulty in chewing due to temporomandibular joint dysorder (TMJ) and it could be due to facial nerve inflammation. I would suggest you to consult oral surgeon for proper diagnosis and to rule out causes like sinusitis and middle ear infection. Doctor may give you night guard , prescribe anti anxiety drugs and may refer to orthodontist for proper alignment of teeth. In the meanwhile try to relax yourself, start physical therapy of facial muscles, do facial exercises. Take ibuprofen and acetaminophen for pain. Physical therapy is the best ailment for TMJ muscles relaxation. Need not to panic about anything. You symptoms will resolve its own after proper facial exercises like blow in blow out, stretching of muscles and whistling.
Hope your concern has been resolved.
