Pediatrician 's  Response
If they are used under proper medical supervision, all the drugs are okay for your child. The key word is "Proper". This means you should have gone to a qualified pediatrician who does not indulge in over-prescription for the sake of making more money.

The fact that the child is on a higher antibiotic and steroids is not in itself a suggestion that the doctor is using unnecessary drugs. However, if he is using them for a simple cold, then it is unnecessary. If, however, your child has a chest fullness, fast breathing, or high fever, all the above medicines are justified.

Do suggest asking for an X-ray of the chest and a full blood count to validate the diagnosis.

With regards,

Dr. Taher
