Is Metronidazole Tablet The Right Medicine For Bacterial Vaginosis?

I previously had bacterial vaginosis and was prescribed metronidazole and only ended up taking about half (or a little over half) of the medication. I have been noticing similar symptoms as of recently and am wondering if it is safe for me to take my old medication?

Hello dear!
Welcome and thank you for sharing your concerns with us!

Bacterial vaginosis (if you are sure for that), is treated with antibiotics. Metronidazole is used to treat some bacterial infections but the main use is for parasitic infections, for example, giardia, Trichomonas, Helicobacter etc.

I would recommend you a combination of drugs to have a better effect in treating your vaginosis.
Polygynax or Cervugid in ovules, are medications used for infections of different pathogens including protozoa, bacteria, yeast, and non infectious inflammation too. So you would be covered from many possible pathogens.

Meanwhile, Azithromycin in the same time once daily orally tablets, can be used to treat infections from Bacteria.

I hope you will be fine as soon as possible.
Take care and all the best!
DR ERIOL.
