My baby had a convulsion during initial fever above 101 degF when she was only 11 months old. She was taken to the hospital within 15min of the convulsion period and she was only moving her eyes during that time. Doctor (paediatrician) gave her injections immediately for lowering fever and gave suction on her mouth for clearing her mouth & throat. She was also given oxygen for smooth breathing. She was having convulsion period for more than 1 hour and then only she breath normally. She was at hospital for 04 days. Later doctor prescribed Valence medicine for continuous 05 years and also advised us to go for EEG and MRI. We had EEG of our baby after 03 months and it was normal. So another paediatrician advised us to discontinue Valence medicine and asked us to be more vigilant for not allowing fever to rise above 100degF. He prescribed us Frisium 5mg and P-250 for fever period. But later on, during 16 month of age, my baby again had second convulsion with fever of 100 degF just after 01 month of leaving Valence medicine. She had vomiting during convulsion period and we she was again given several injections at that time. Doctor (paediatrician) recorded it as Fever with refractory status epilepticus and prescribed Levipil medicine for continuous 05 to 06 years with intermittent check-up. Now our baby is quite ok, but she is not too strong as she used to be in earlier days. Doctor advised us to consult one Child neurologist too. But she had no such convulsion during her normal days. It happened twice during fever only. Is this medicine Levipil correct for my baby or is it bringing my baby more towards epilepsy form??? Why is she feeling weak after taking this medicine??? What are the main side effects for a baby??? Will she experience any difficulty in developing herself after taking this medicine???
