Is Levipil A Safer Alternative To Phenytoin When Trying To Conceive?

i am planning a baby and i have been taking phenytoin and phenobarbitone combination medicine for 20 years. my obstetrician says Phenytoin is not safe for my baby.she asked me to switch over to some safer medicine like Levipil. Please suggest. Roop

I really appreciate your concern no medicine is safe as long as the pregnancy is concern in my opinion if taking medicine is not that much necessary then you can skip the dosage till the 28 week of pregnancy, otherwise the medicine that you are taking is not advisable to take in pregnancy have word with physician, hope this information helps you take care.
