Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
i month ago my ggt was 108 and i was diagnose with kidney stone bilateral and i take this potasium citrate and sambong forte and stone was gone with the latest ultrasound and now i take a test and my ggt was 149. i would like to ask what was the reason? is it from the medicine i take for kidney stone that affects my ggt level to increase?
The reference range for gamma-glutamyl transferase (GGT) is 0-30 IU/L.
Sambong forte is a herbal preparation and its intake with potassium citrate is not known to elevate GGT levels.
Gamma-glutamyl transferase is an inducible enzyme. It is induced by alcohol intake. If you are habituated taking alcohol, it might be the reason for its increase.
Since it has increased more than 3 to 4 fold above normal, it is advisable to get an ultrasound scan of the abdomen done.
Consult Physician with the report for clinical evaluation and appropriate management.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Dr. Ashakiran S,
