Hello,

If you are diagnosed with pre-cancerous basal cell carcinoma then the best treatment is excision, removal of the basal cell carcinoma along the margin of the normal skin (Mohs surgery).

However, Cryosurgery is a non surgical treatment for basal carcinoma. The tumor is frozen & the frozen skin peels over as the underneath skin heals. Topical application of Fluorouracil is also effective. You should continue to use it till the lesion goes away. It may take 4-6 weeks or as long as 10-12 weeks time.

If the lesion shows slow or no improvement with the topical cream, you should talk to your treating doctor & get treated at the earliest. Do not let the symptoms grow worse.

Hope I have answered your question. Take care. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
