Is Emeset The Right Medicine For Chronic Vomiting In A Child?

Hi, my baby is 2 1/2 year old. She is vomiting since yesterday morning. We came from US to India 2 days before for a vacation. Doctor here suggested to give Emeset. We gave .4 ml of emeset yesterday night. Today morning she had milk and vomited again. What food can we give the baby and also the dosage of the syrup.

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service.

I have reviewed your query and here is my advice. I am understanding your concern. As per your query your child is having chronic vomiting which seems to be due to food poisoning and acute gastroenteritis. Need not to worry. Emeset is the right medication for your child. I would suggest you to take acetaminophen in dosage of 15mg/kg.

You should give child proper rest. You should give plenty of fluids to re-hydrate. Take diet rich in multivitamins and avoid any oily sharp and fast food. Visit pediatrician once and get it examined. You should get blood tests done of children to find out underlying cause of condition and start treatment accordingly. It does not seems like seizures. Your child's symptoms will resolve in 3 to 5 days.

Hope your concern has been resolved. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Get Well Soon.

Best Wishes,
Dr. Harry Maheshwari
