General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi & Welcome.
i appreciate your concern for your beloved mother.
Duloxetine is not the right medicine for the chest infection.
It's a serotonin nor-epinephrine re-uptake inhibitor (SNRI) used to treat major depressive disorder, generalized anxiety disorder, urinary incontinence, neuropathic pain & fibromyalgia.
She seems to be suffering from psychosis ('schizophrenia').
She needs to be evaluated by a psychiatrist and a proper treatment like atypical antipsychotic drugs may be needed.
For the treatment of chest infection usually the suitable antibiotics are prescribed depending upon the organisms responsbile for the infection.
Hope this will help her.
