Is Ciprofloxacin Safe For The Treatment Of UTI In An Elderly Person?
I have been diagnosed with a UTI by urgent care doc. She prescribed Sulfamethoxazole instead of Ciprofloxacin HCL 50O MG. The doc said I should not use the Ciprofloxacin b/c of my age (70) though the other medication has not relieved my symptoms. Is Ciprofloxacin no longer a valid med for me for UTI symptoms?

Ciprofloxacin is a good drug and it shows good response in UTI.
Age is not a contraindication you can safely take Ciprofloxacin. Better to do a urine culture and sensitivity and chose antibiotic according to culture report.
