Is Celestamine Advisable During Pregnancy?

Hi I used to take celestamine a while back and it used to help with my colds and flu symptoms. I only took it when I started feeling the cold and flu symptoms. I then stopped when I realized it was a steroid and some minor abnormalies were discovered in my kidneys and liver after a ct scan. I am now 5 weeks pregnant and I ve been having colds one after another. I feel I need to take celestamine to stop this. Is it safe to take it while pregnant?

Hi,

Celestamine contains a combination of
- chlorpheniramine (which is safe for all trimesters of pregnancy)
- betamethasone (which is considered as category C drug during pregnancy and may pose harm to fetus during organogenesis in first 3 months of pregnancy).

So, in my opinion, Celestamine is not 100% safe during 5 weeks pregnancy and you should seek for a better alternative as chlorpheniramine alone, loratadine or fexofenadine.
