Is Asthavent Syrup Advisable For Allergy?

hi...my son has been suffering from severe headache, body pain, difficulty in breathing and acute pain in his ears. Prior to that he had some fever and flu also. I took him to my doc he prescribed antibiotics and asthavent syrup.... i wanted to know more about the asthavent syrup. Is it for alergy or what? Is there any side effect for that?? could u please tell me more abt the asthavent syrup?? thank you

I understand your concern.
Asthavent syrup contains 'albuterol', which relaxes the smooth muscle in the lung and dilates airways to improve breathing. It is primarily a 'bronchodilator'. It is not an anti-allergic medication.
It is generally a safe medication, but can cause certain side effects like dry mouth, headache, dizziness, nervousness and diarrhea.
You need to take anti-histamine medication like levocetirizine for allergy problems, if any. Kindly consult Paediatrician for the dosage and preparation of such medication before it is given.
