Is Amoxicillin Effective In The Treatment Of Syphilis?

I am from smaller place in south Africa. Doctor at clinic said I have syphilis and only treatment our clinic has is amoxillin alone. He bad me takr 4 grams, made me feel sick. But I read that amoxillin doesn t work to kill syphillis alone. But some say it is, so I am very confused. I am worry that this only treatment is not good, will it work?

Hello there I have read through your question and would like to tell you that syphilis is treated with the penicillin group of antibiotics and amoxycillin belong s to it. If it is making you sick you can take a proton pump inhibitor with it which will help to prevent gastritis caused by amoxycillin. But if still you are facing problems with it you can ask your physician to substitute it with Azithromycin. I hope that answers your question.
