Is Amlodipine Besylate A Good Alternative Of Bisoprolol Fumarate?

I AM 66 YRS OLD, AND HAVE BEEN TAKING BISOPROLOL FUMERATE 20 MG EVERY DAY FOR ALMOST 20 YRS. I AM OUT OF MY MEDICINE, AND CURRENTLY HAVE NO DOCTOR TO FILL ANOTHER SCRIPT FOR ME. CAN I TAKE AMLODIPINE BESYLATE UNTIL I CAN FIND A DOCTOR, OR IS IT NOT THE SAME KIND OF MEDICINE ? I HAVE HAD NO HEART PROBLEMS IN ABOUT 15 YRS.

Hi,

I understand your concern.

Amlodipine is not the same drug class as Bisoprolol. So, its role cannot substitute that of Bisoprolol.

Immediate appointment with cardiologist is advised. Should not stop taking it.
